WHY AQUATIC VERSUS TRADITIONAL LAND THERAPY?
The warm pool water allows your muscles to relax and decrease your pain. It is also a safe and supportive environment for improving balance and coordination, enabling you to focus without worrying about falling. Joints that are painful on land are less painful in the water, thereby allowing you to increase your range of motion, strength, and overall function—all with less pain.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
For your initial visit, all you need to bring is your physician referral or prescription (if required), insurance card, primary registration forms, and co-payment (if applicable). This first evaluation will last about one hour, and we typically do not enter the water until your second visit. When treating in the pool, you may bring a change of clothing, swimwear, water shoes (recommended), and a towel to dry off.

WHAT IF I CAN'T SWIM?
Swimming is not required, as most therapy is performed while standing in the water using flotation devices or holding onto the side of the pool. The water is typically chest-deep, and our therapists always accompany patients in the water during their treatment.

WILL MY HAIR GET WET?
Therapists do their best to ensure that only the treated areas get wet. Swim caps are encouraged for those who wish to keep their hair completely dry.

WHAT IF I AM AFRAID OF WATER?
We treat many patients who are initially scared of the pool. Our therapists are welcoming and will be with you in the water so you can maximize your experience and help alleviate your fears. The sessions can be completed standing in shallow water 3 1/2 to 4 feet high. We do not submerge under the water's surface.
